Despite opposition from within his own party, Ohio Republican John Boehner will keep his post as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Tuesday afternoon Boehner received 216 votes from representatives while more than a dozen reps unhappy with Boehner for pushing through the government spending bill last month that in their opinion gave too much to President Obama voted for other people, including people who are not in the House. Is that even allowed?
The Huffington Post reports that though “the insurrection gained little traction, it does signal that Boehner could be in for a rough couple of years. The members who opposed him comprise a larger bloc than the dozen who opposed him two years ago at the start of the 113th Congress.”
In related news, Boehner cried. Again.
Be careful, John. Water can really mess up the leather. pic.twitter.com/Wo3xxTxZ2t
